Brighter Beginnings Psychology & Wellbeing are currently able to take new referrals and individuals are welcome to contact us directly to make an appointment.
You do not require a Mental Health Care Plan to access psychological support via Brighter Beginnings Psychology & Wellbeing. However, individuals with a GP Mental Health Care Plan under the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Scheme, will be eligible to obtain a Medicare rebate to access specific psychological services. Generally, individuals are able to access a Medicare rebate for up to 10 (6 + 4 sessions) per calendar year. More information about this scheme can be found on the Australian Psychological Society Website http://www.psychology.org.au/medicare/
Requesting a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP:
- Request a longer consultation with your GP, advising that you will be requesting a Mental Health Care Plan be completed
- Discuss your current symptoms and concerns with your GP and ask for a Mental Health Care Plan so that you can access psychological services and obtain a Medicare Rebate
- Bring your Mental Health Care Plan to your initial appointment
Alternatively, clients may wish to speak with their private health insurers about their eligibility for reimbursement of a portion of our fees, however, in most instances, the Medicare rebate is the more generous option.
To make an appointment or to discuss fees and associated Medicare rebates, please call us on (02) 6287 3101 Should we not be available to take your call, please leave a message and we will return your call.
